How often do worry about your child's safety because of the neighbor's lingering hand on her shoulder? How many times have you decided to stay in the bathroom to keep an eye on the maid as she bathes your little angel? What about your second cousin who just moved into your house and can't seem to keep his eyes off your budding child?
Statistics show that sexual child abuse cases, as well as rape, are committed most often by family members and friends of the family.
It is those we love who hurt us the most.
Child abuse is more rampant than many of you think. Each parent would say “God forbid! It can never happen to my child”. I pray so my friends, but we do have to be more vigilant.
Not only do we have to be more observant regarding all that is happening in the lives of our children but we also have to be closer to them. We need to learn to listen to them, pay attention to those little changes, and learn not to disregard their needs, complaints and worries.
A reliable source has decided to blow the whistle on a terrifying case of child molestation in the Ibadan Police Force. This horrible act was performed on the young body and innocent mind of a 10 year old boy by a male officer. The abuse supposedly had been going on for a certain amount of time, before the lid was eventually and fortunately blown off to expose the beast in a human skin. He had been seducing them by buying them gifts, before engaging in homosexual acts with them. He was finally caught sleeping with a 10 year old boy in Ibadan.
A grown man decides to use little children to quench the raging hunger in his loins.
However, as our source explained, the Ibadan Police Force has decided to brush this incident under the carpet in order to save the reputation of one of their own. Rather than efficiently fulfill the service expected of them by the people, police officers have decided to ignore the physical and psychological trauma being inflicted on the young victims.
As a result of this we implore to you to share any useful information you may have in order to bring this culprit, as well as those who have decided to turn a blind eye to his crime, to justice.
Let us do it for the children. The fewer pedophiles walking the streets as free men, the safer the world in which our children live. Let's not turn a blind eye to the evils of man. It could happen to any of us.

The ill-fated DANA aircraft on one of its voyages before
Sunday’s tragic crash .
By: OSSAI VERA NDIDI
Dana Air management yesterday commented extensively on the
crash of its MD 83 jet in Iju-Ishaga area of Lagos, killing 153 people on
board.
The Director of Operation of the airline, Capt Oscar Wason, in a press
briefing said the airplane was 22 years old and acquired from Alaska Airlines
in the USA four years ago, via a third party.
According to him, the
aircraft was in perfect airworthiness condition before it crashed, stressing
that it was not the same airplane that suffered hydraulic failure few weeks ago
as being speculated in many quarters.
“The one that had
hydraulic problem was 5N-SRI while the one that crashed was 5N-RAM. I
personally flew the crashed one on Saturday to Ibadan for operational checks
and it was fine. It later flew the routes it was to fly. On Sunday morning it
departed Lagos by 7.47am as flight 998 to Abuja and came back to Lagos as
flight 997. It later did another flight to Abuja as flight 993 and crashed on
landing in Lagos as flight 992,” he stated.
He explained that
contrary to speculations, the aircraft and its crew had full insurance cover,
as it could not fly an aircraft without adequate insurance, at variance with
the requirements of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA).
“Captain Wason said:
“DANA Air aircraft are insured with the crew members. It is unthinkable for
anybody to insinuate that our aircraft or the crewmembers were not insured.
That is not true; there is no way the NCAA will allow such in Nigeria. For us
at DANA Air, 22 years as the age of the aircraft is not an issue, because it
was in a perfect airworthiness condition. We got the aircraft, a Boeing MD 83
aircraft from an entity close to Alaska Airlines, which flew the aircraft for
some years before it phased it out, about four years ago.”
Wason also confirmed
that officials of the United States National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB)
were on ground to handle the investigation with officials of the Accident
Investigation Bureau (AIB), with the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority ( NCAA)
helping to coordinate information on the accident. He said it was usual for
people to express anger, which could be false in crisis time, urging Nigerians
to be patient with the company.
The director of
flight operations of DANA Air explained that the airline management was meeting
with officials of NCAA and the Aviation Ministry on how to address issues
arising from the crash. He said about 94 bodies had been recovered and taken to
Ikeja General Hospital, for proper identification and documentation, before it
could be released to family members for burial. He said the bodies that may
have burnt beyond recognition would have to undergo DNA test for proper
identification.
He said: “ The first
phase of recovery is to recover the bodies, once that has been done properly,
they will be released for burial. But for those we cannot ascertain, there will
be DNA test. So, it is too early to determine the cause of the crash. The black
box has not been found, only a computer item was found. Only the tail section
of the aircraft survived. No aircraft will fly if it is not airworthy. We do
not take risk with peoples lives.”
Meanwhile, in a press
statement issued by the chairman of the airline, Jacky Hathiramani, he said: “
The DANA Air family is deeply saddened by the tragic loss of the passengers and
crew members of flight 9J-922 of Sunday, June 3, 2012. The aircraft, with
registration number 5N- RAM, departed Abuja for Lagos with 146 passengers on
board. One DANA Air flight engineer, two pilots and four-cabin crew were also
aboard the flight.
We extend our deepest
sympathies to the families and friends of the deceased and we are going to do
everything we can to assist them in these extremely difficult times. An
investigation into the cause of the accident got underway immediately, under
the guidance of the NCAA, who is being assisted by investigators from the United
States National Safety Transportation Board.
DANA Air is cooperating fully and assisting the
investigations in every possible. ” He said.
PSQUARE’S MOTHER DEAD!
LATE. MRS.OKOYE
This is obviously a sad story for me been a number one fan
of psquare and realizing that psquare’s mother dead?. Mother of Nigerian entertainers, Peter and
Paul Okoye popularly known as P-Square is dead. According to resources Mrs.
Okoye lost the battle to a sickness which has not been disclosed yet, also No
word yet from Peter, Paul, Tony, Jude and the rest of the Okoye siblings. But
those close to them have confirmed thatat the intial stage of her illness she was taken to St. Nicholas
Hospital, one of the most expensive medical centres in Nigeria. She was later
flown abroad for further treatment. Unfortunately, she died while responding to
treatment.
Immediately the news broke, friends and colleagues have been
sending condolence messages to the Psquare’s family.
Mrs. Okoye is fond of attending her son’s events as often as
she can, her last public appearance was at the P-Square Invasion concert in
August 2011. An unrepentant supporter of her kids, the late Mrs. Okoye,
although a Christian minister, encouraged pop duo Peter and Paul with their
music careers, giving her full backing long before it became profitable; even
at the risk of upsetting her husband who would have none of it.
I feel so heart broken about this and i wish that may her
soul rest in perfect peace.
In the history of NUJ, there was lapses because between the year 1961-1969 the unions name was picked out from the list of the registered Trade Unions and this emanated as a result of which the union failed to operate as a trade union. The birth of Nigeria Union of Journalists under a six-man inaugural Executive Council, at the St. Paul’s premises, Breadfruit Street, Lagos on March 15, 1955, marked the Zenith of years of a silent revolution for the actualization of a common front by some early nationalists who originated the core of a call for an independent Nigeria, through the power of the pen.
In the past, the struggle that “Britain must go” had manifested in the expressed ideas, obviously appearing in the now newspapers including the Anglo African, The Lagos Chronicles, The Lagos Standard, Lagos Weekly Record, The African Messenger, The Lagos daily News, The Eagle, West African Pilot and many others. Here , some of the nationalists who had the zeal of patriotism and nationalism burning in them and their writings includes the first Governor General of Nigeria, the Late Chief Obafemi Awolowo, the Late Sardauna of Sokoto, Sir Ahmadu Bello and Alhaji Tafawa Balewa, the Late Herbert Macaulay and Chief H.O. Davies who with the launch of the Yoruba vernacular newspaper “Iwe Irohin ni Ede Yoruba”, founded by the Late Rev. Ajayi Crowther in Abeokuta in 1929, wrote powerfully in their newspaper’s, columns on the need for Nigeria’s self-rule. Some writers, who also had a taste of Western education and majorly in the field of journalism, were zealous to fight through the struggle for commensurate wages.
MOHAMMED GARBA. NUJ CHAIRMAN.
While in Britain in search of solutions, someone like Chief Olu Oyesanya then a member of the London Institute of Journalism had formed the National Union of Journalists (NUJ) Britain and on his arrival to Nigeria in 1954, he joined the colonial government as an Information Officer, spearheading the formation of the Nigeria Union of Journalists and became a member of the premier Executive Council and first Secretary, in 1955. Late Mobolaji Odenewu, the first president of the union was one of the principal officers who emerged with him. Odenewu served as the first Nigerian Chief Information Officer under the colonial government. Others were Late Ebun Adesioye (Treasurer), Messrs Increase Coker, Chief Olabisi Onabanjo “Ayekoto” and H.K. Offonery, etc. These people served as ex-officios in the Union. Through the legacy and foundation laid down by the early leaders of the union and in concert with established rules governing all industrial unions globally, the NUJ has a progressive constitution which remains the life line of its rules including the election of its National Leaders.
While critically
analyzing CNN’s website and keeping some of the key terms in mind, I discovered
a number of interesting assets about the website that I never would have
thought of prior to this course. Personally, I enjoy visiting websites
that are informative but also interactive as well. It can be difficult to
find the perfect balance of both, but CNN has one of the best
proportions. The use of multimedia within the website is shown in an
assortment of ways, from videos to product advertising commercials. CNN
also offers their viewers the opportunity to browse through pictures, take
surveys, find the local weather conditions in their community and even listen
to CNN on the radio. Hypertext is also introduced by means of links
within different reading passages. At the end of most articles the author
usually gives the viewer the option to continue reading if they click on a
certain link. Visitors can also click on the main picture within a page
and easily be directed towards a plethora of other images that are
relevant. CNN is a fairly interactive website with a few opportunities
for the source and receiver to interchange ideas. Some features include,
being able to write blogs, participates in surveys/polls, requesting CNN weekly
update messages be sent to cellular phones and the chance to search for last
minute travel deals.
Media Richness is
another term that I choose to use to assist me with analyzing the website. CNN has a special feature on most of its
pages that I continuously noticed, the option to upload a resume and to search
for a job without having to physically contact or speak to their possible
employer. This is a perfect example of
media richness because the employee can avoid showing their nervousness or
other anxieties by using a “poor medium to communicate something complex”.
Hyperpersonal
Communication is consistently evident within the website. Individuals who may not feel comfortable
sharing their personal opinions in a face-to-face environment can easily do so
at CNN through blogs or “ireports”; which allows users to post unedited stories
and videos about anything they may desire.
Individuals who decide to use the blog feature do not have to worry
about being judged based on their appearance.
This permits the user to feel more relaxed and able to present
themselves in any way that makes them happy.
People who opt to uses these features are also given more time to
process what they want to say and how they want to articulate it.
