ANALYSIS OF THE CNN WEBSITE {WWW.CNN.COM}
While critically analyzing CNN’s website and keeping some of the key terms in mind, I discovered a number of interesting assets about the website that I never would have thought of prior to this course.  Personally, I enjoy visiting websites that are informative but also interactive as well.  It can be difficult to find the perfect balance of both, but CNN has one of the best proportions.  The use of multimedia within the website is shown in an assortment of ways, from videos to product advertising commercials.  CNN also offers their viewers the opportunity to browse through pictures, take surveys, find the local weather conditions in their community and even listen to CNN on the radio.  Hypertext is also introduced by means of links within different reading passages.  At the end of most articles the author usually gives the viewer the option to continue reading if they click on a certain link.  Visitors can also click on the main picture within a page and easily be directed towards a plethora of other images that are relevant.  CNN is a fairly interactive website with a few opportunities for the source and receiver to interchange ideas.  Some features include, being able to write blogs, participates in surveys/polls, requesting CNN weekly update messages be sent to cellular phones and the chance to search for last minute travel deals.
 
Media Richness is another term that I choose to use to assist me with analyzing the website.  CNN has a special feature on most of its pages that I continuously noticed, the option to upload a resume and to search for a job without having to physically contact or speak to their possible employer.  This is a perfect example of media richness because the employee can avoid showing their nervousness or other anxieties by using a “poor medium to communicate something complex”.  
 
Hyperpersonal Communication is consistently evident within the website.  Individuals who may not feel comfortable sharing their personal opinions in a face-to-face environment can easily do so at CNN through blogs or “ireports”; which allows users to post unedited stories and videos about anything they may desire.  Individuals who decide to use the blog feature do not have to worry about being judged based on their appearance.  This permits the user to feel more relaxed and able to present themselves in any way that makes them happy.  People who opt to uses these features are also given more time to process what they want to say and how they want to articulate it.
 
Aesthetics of the website…
The CNN website is mixed with different color combinations, which consists of; Red, white, blue and black.

*Too often, offices stifle creativity instead of encouraging it. This is part of the problem this site faces.
